Race Report MXGP Lettland 2

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Pilot Jeremy Seewer feierte in der 4. Runde des MXGP FIM Motocross Worls Championship in Riga, den 2. Podiumsplatz. Er sicherte sich 22-Punkte als 2.Platzierter im 2. Rennen und 18-Punkte als 4.Platzierter in Runde 1.
Gestartet wurde wieder in Lettland, für die zweite von drei Grand Prix am Veranstaltungsort «Zelta Zirgs» innerhalb von einer Woche. Seewer startete den Tag mit einer weiteren heissen Trainingseinheit. Er erlitt einen kleinen Sturz, landete jedoch mit einer Zeit von 1:55.16 auf dem 9.Platz unter den Top 10.
ERSTES RENNEN: Seewer tat sein Bestes, um das Chaos welches im 1.Rennen herrschte zu entfliehen, verlor dabei jedoch Positionen. Die Fahrer wurden im ersten Lauf stark gefordert. Seewer befand sich mitten im Pulk und lieferte einen Kampf mit den ehemaligen Weltmeistern Romain Febvre und Jeffrey Herlings. Im Ziel angekommen, musste sich Seewer schliesslich mit dem 4.Platz zufriedengeben.
ZWEITES RENNEN: Im letzten Rennen des Tages, lag Seewer nach der 1.Kurve in den Top 7. Seewer gelang es auf Platz 4 vorzufahren, bevor er die Fehler von Herlings und Cairoli nutzte, um mit den zwei verbleibenden Runden Platz 2 zu übernehmen.
Ähnlich wie bei der 2. Runde des MXGP in Lettland vor nicht viel mehr als 48 Stunden kam die 91 einem ersten MXGP-Rennsieg sehrnahe. Die MXGP Fahrer der Top 15 befinden sich auf sehr hohem Niveau und liegen Geschwindigkeitsmässig sehr stark beieinander, was das Überhohlen extrem schwierig gestaltet.
In der Endwertung lag Seewer nur 3 Punkte vor einem 1. Grand-Prix-Sieg. Mit den gesammelten Punkten stieg er in der Meisterschaftswertung auf den 5. Platz auf.
Weiter geht es in die 5.Runde, die am Sonntag den 15.August hier in Kegums, Lettland stattfinden wird.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer celebrated the MXGP of Riga, round four of the FIM Motocross World Championship, from the second step of the podium after pairing the 22-points for second position in the final race with the 18-points scored for fourth in Race 1.
lining up in Kegums, Latvia, for the second of three Grands Prix that will take place at the ‘Zelta Zirgs’ venue in the space of seven-days.
Starting the day with another hotly contested Timed Practice session, Seewer had a small crash but still finished inside of the top-10 with a time of 1:55.167 for ninth.
RACE ONE: Seewer did his best to avoid the chaos but lost positions in the process. The championship protagonists were truly tested in the opening race. Seewer found himself mid-pack and in the thick of a raging battle with former World Champions Romain Febvre and Jeffrey Herlings. At the flag, Seewer had to eventually settle for fourth position.
RACE TWO: In the final race of the day, Seewer and Tonus were well placed on the exit of turn-one with both YZ450FM riders inside the top-seven. Seewer took no prisoners as he charged up into fourth before capitalizing on mistakes from Herlings and Antonio Cairoli to take over second position with two laps remaining.
Similar to what happened in Race 2 at the MXGP of Latvia only 48 hours ago, the ‘91’ came ever-so close to a first ever MXGP race win. With an extreme depth of talent in MXGP in 2020, the top-15 riders are evenly matched in speed which makes passing extremely difficult
In the final classification, Seewer came up a mere 3-points short of a maiden Grand Prix victory. After matching his career best result with second overall, Seewer has moved up to fifth in the MXGP Championship Standings
Going into round five of the series which is set to take place on Sunday 15th August here in Kegums, Latvia.
